Notice Period: Meaning and Purpose
A notice period is the time an employee or employer must give before ending employment. This calculator finds the last working day and the pay for any shortfall.
Factors That Affect the Result
- Resignation date
- Notice period length in your appointment letter
- Days served if some are waived or adjusted
- Monthly gross salary for notice pay
- Leave that you can set off against notice
How the Notice Period Is Calculated
Last working day = Date of resignation + Notice period in days
Shortfall days = Notice period − Days served
Notice pay = (Monthly gross ÷ 30) × Shortfall days
Resigning on 1 October 2026 with a 60-day notice period gives a last working day of 30 November 2026.
